A keyword is a unique word chosen by a business or organization that people can text in order to join a group text list, retrieve information or initiate a text conversation.
If you plan on sending mass text messages to groups, the keyword you select will represent a group or list of subscribers. For example, a pizza restaurant owner could register the keyword
JOESPIZZA and then ask his customers to text
JOESPIZZA to 37373 (for example) in order to subscribe and receive sales alerts. If you send to multiple groups, you would register a keyword for each group.
If you plan on creating a text message auto responder, the keyword you select will be used to request information and generate a response with a text and/or link. For example, that same pizza restaurant could register the keyword
GETMENU and anyone who texts that keyword to 72345 (for example) would automatically get a link to the menu.
Each plan includes a number of Standard keywords (5-characters or more). Additional Standard keywords can be added to your plan for an additional monthly fee per keyword.
Premium or Reserved keywords are also available for an additional monthly fee per keyword.

Each plan includes a number of message credits. A message credit is consumed for each text sent in or out. If you send a lot of messages and your usage exceeds the number included in your plan, you will be automatically billed at the per-message rate associated with your plan.
